Utah Taiko Experience - What Is It All About?

Welcome to our latest blog post! Today, we're diving into the Utah Taiko Experience 2024, breaking it down for newcomers and updating our seasoned participants on the exciting changes in store for this year.

Last year was out first UTE - and while it was an extraordinary journey, it also presented many challenges. We’re approaching this year with a clearer perspective and are fine-tuning things accordingly. We’re confident that this year’s Utah Taiko Experience will surpass expectations and deliver an even more enriching experience for everyone!

WHO is the Utah Taiko Experience For?

The Utah Taiko Experience is tailored for individuals who share a profound affinity for both nature and the art of Taiko drumming. It brings together outdoor enthusiasts who revel in adventure and exploration AND who are also deeply passionate about the creativity and expressiveness inherent in Taiko drumming. Whether you seek a connection with the natural world or a sense of community through taiko, the Utah Taiko Experience offers an incredible blend of outdoor recreational activities and Taiko intensives to satisfy both passions.

NEW: We understand that everyone comes to UTE with different levels of experience and comfort. So whether you're a relative beginner in taiko or looking to challenge yourself physically in the outdoors, we've got you covered. This year, we're offering three different levels for both physical activity outdoors and taiko skills, ensuring that there's something for everyone, regardless of experience level. Our goal is to accommodate a wide range of participants, allowing each individual to select their own personal level and feel comfortable throughout the experience.

Balancing Intensity With Relaxation

Initially conceived as a tranquil nature retreat, last year’s UTE unexpectedly transformed into a physically and emotionally intense journey! Reflecting on this, we’ve embraced the intensity while striving to infuse more equilibrium into the mix.

NEW Yuta and Razz are hard at work on the schedule to allow for a little more sleep and uninterrupted immersion in both nature and drumming sessions. Last year we often felt rushed to get back for dinner or practice, but with Yuta’s ingenuity and our collective brainstorming, we're planning to make things flow even better this year!

Integrating Taiko & Nature

NEW:At this year's Utah Taiko Experience we also want to merge the worlds of taiko and nature. We're exploring innovative ways to integrate drumming and outdoor exploration.

Imagine a beautiful hike culminating in a hachijo session on top of the mountain, or practicing Raku in a field of wild flowers next to a sparkling stream... this is what we're envisioning!

Looking Forward!!!

This year promises to be even better than 2023! Stay tuned for updates. Our next post will introduce you to our incredible management team and what we are all doing to take things up another notch.

Currently we have 9 spots left, with a 50/50 mix of Europeans and Americans! It's an incredible group so far and I really can't wait to see old friends and make new ones in Manti this Summer. If you're not registered, do it quickly! Places are filling up fast :)

Wishing you all an amazing Spring!!
